- Our scope:
Built for the future of optical technology.
The world market leader for optical measuring systems, based in Hamburg’s Wedel district, is expanding and needs more space for its future-oriented technologies. A new company headquarters has come into being, immediately adjacent to the existing location.
The key: the company’s logo is based on the ground plan of its administrative building. An isosceles triangle with rounded corners makes the representative building into an arresting structure.
The building’s economical flat slab construction meets the requirements for flexible office use and permits easy installation of the building services.
Directly adjacent to the administrative building is the two-storey production facility and warehouse. The reinforced concrete construction with ceiling heights of 5 metres and an effective span of 11 metres consists almost entirely of fully prefabricated components. To ensure the functioning of the highly-sensitive optical measuring systems, key areas are isolated from vibrations in the sole by means of cushioning elements.
The location immediately beside the River Elbe in front of the dyke, with unfavourable building site conditions, meant that special measures were needed. The new building will be constructed on a flood-proof mound with deep foundations on 530 Fundex piles.
